Pastoral Ministry
PURPOSE:
The Pastoral Care Commission cares and supports our church family through life’s ups and downs. Jesus came among us 'as one who serves' and calls us to be servants to one another.
'Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.' Romans 12:15
PASTORAL EMERGENCIES:
St. Anthony is privileged to share with you in the difficult or challenging times in your life. In case of a pastoral care issue (death in the family, hospitalization, new birth, job loss, etc.), please call one of our clergy, listed below, or the church office.
The Rev. Harold Clinehens, Jr., Interim Rector, (480) 451-0860, ext. 11; Deacon Jan Wilner (480) 252-2094
ARIZONA SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION - ADOLESCENTS
ASAP-Adolescents is a community outreach program that provides education for 6th and 7th grade students. The goal of the program is to prevent youth from becoming involved in alcohol, tobacco and other drug use by integrating an effective research-based program into their lives. Operated by the Center for Health & Reconciliation of St. Anthony, the program trains facilitators in the national All Stars curriculum who conduct two twelve-week after school courses each year.
FAITH COUNSELING CENTER:
Faith Counseling Center is a nondenominational, interfaith pastoral counseling center offering confidential individual and family counseling in several Valley churches, including St. Anthony. Licensed counselors from the Center, including Noel Kilgariff who provides counseling in the Center's office and also in St. Anthony's Comfort Room, look at family and personal issues considering the client's psychological and faith perspectives. Reduced-fee consultations are available in cases of financial need.
HEALING STATION:
This ministry is available in the Chapel after each Sunday service for individual prayers. Teams of two will offer prayers for healing, encouragement, or thanksgivings as needed. This is a ministry of caring and compassion.
PRAYER CHAIN:
A group of men and women with loving, compassionate hearts and strong beliefs in the power of prayer make daily prayer intercessions for persons needing healing of body, mind, or spirit, or a combination. The group has witnessed many healings, many victories, and even a few miracles. The Prayer Chain coordinator compiles the list of family members, friends, other parishioners, and co-workers needing daily prayers. The list is circulated to all members of the chain.
SAMARITANS:
Samaritans are a group of people who visit church members who enjoy companionship, such as members living in extended care facilities, recovering from illnesses, or unable to leave home often. This is a ministry of caring and hospitality. Members are not counselors, but friendly visitors.
WALKING THE MOURNER'S PATH:
Walking the Mourner's Path is an 8-week program to assist people in their healing following the death of a loved one. Group sessions are held in the fall and in the spring. The group is open to people in the community as well as St. Anthony members. Call Peggy Sands in the Mourner's Path office (480-657-8503) for more information about the group sessions.
