East Valley Men's Center

Picture
The center operates under the nonprofit organization - A New Leaf. The center provides housing and meals for over 80 residents who are seeking to make a fresh start, find work and become self sufficient. Saint Anthony supports the efforts of this center by preparing and serving dinner at least monthly, usually more frequently. In addition, Saint Anthony provided start-up funds for a bicycle repair shop at the center. The bicycle repair shop provides reliable transportation for the residents.

Latest Update from MOSA (Men of St. Anthony)
April, 2022 Bike Repair Shop News

Picture
Year to date, we have provided the EVMC bike shop with 15 donated bikes, in addition to supplying various parts. The repair crew from another church shut down during the pandemic but are now back in action working with the residents to repair and maintain the bikes.

Since the residents are not allowed to have cars at the shelter, bikes and buses are their main means of transportation to and from work. The support of Saint Anthony of this ministry has helped many of the residents, and they are allowed to take the bikes with them when they leave the center.

For more information, contact Bob Clarke.

Thanks so much for contributing funds to support the dinners at the EVMC. This isn't  the
first time we've requested contributions, and the parish has always responded generously. To date,
$1,400  has been donated to the dinner fund. Their need has increased as some other parishes are no
longer providing meals. The center is very grateful that we are keeping our commitments.

Dave Hughes, the manager of the EVMC, has verified that there have been no cases of
the coronavirus at the shelter.

We are still receiving donated bikes. Since March, MOSA has taken twenty bikes to the bike shop on the EVMC campus to be used by the men residing there with no transportation.

Hopefully soon we be able to get together for some conversation and a few laughs. Stay safe
and stay well.
